Carpal tunnel syndrome is a condition that causes pain, numbness and tingling in the hand and arm. This syndrome is caused due to overuse injury or a repetitive motion performed by the wrist or hand, often at work. This makes more room for the median nerve and tendons passing through the tunnel, and usually improves pain and function.
After surgery, the hand is wrapped. The stitches are removed 1 to 2 weeks after surgery. The pain and numbness may go away right after surgery or may take several months to subside. Person should avoid heavy weight lifting for up to 3 months.
